The first step in determining if leg lengthening is right for you is an in-person or virtual consultation with Dr. Cinats. You will undergo a series of x-rays of your legs which Dr. Cinats will use to determine if leg lengthening is possible, the amount of height that can be achieved, and the length of treatment.

Femur or tibial osteotomies are performed and the PRECICE nail is inserted. The length of stay in hospital is typically 3-4 days. Patients work with physiotherapy to begin mobilizing as safe as possible before discharge.

Limb lengthening is started approximately one week after surgery and continues at a specific rate until your desired height is achieved. X-rays of the legs are performed every one to two weeks to ensure that the lengthening process is proceeding as safe and effective as possible. Physiotherapy and kinesiology sessions are essential to maintain flexibility and strength during lengthening.
